Marble

Most people are familiar with marble. From Greek statues and Roman baths, it has been used for hundred of years in just about every possible interior and exterior application. It's a general thought that marble originates from Italy, but in actuality, it is quarried all over the world.

Compared to other natural stones like granite and quartzite, marble is a relatively soft stone. It can etch if spills are not cleaned up right away. Marble naturally develops a patina, or a change in gloss, on the surface produced by oxidation over a long period of time. This is one of the reasons why manufactures are producing engineered surfaces that resemble the look of marble. Some clients simply don't want to deal with the added care and maintenance to keep it looking beautiful. But, if you're in love with the classic look of marble, then there is simply no alternative quite as beautiful as the real thing.
